Sachtleben once again obtained the Kosher Certificate and the AIB Certificate.
Kosher instead of organic. More and more American consumers prefer a kosher certification.
You could say organic food is out, kosher food is en vogue. At least that is the case for a continually increasing number of well-to-do American consumers. Food with the Jewish Kosher Certificate is the segment in the American food industry showing the most significant growth. The rabbis responsible for the certification noticed this trend, but journalists and writers also coined the expression "Kosher Nation".

Sachtleben's new octopus particles
Functionalized tentacles assure secure chemical bonding of inorganic particles and organic coating matrix
Sachtleben recently unveiled its patented functionalized sulfate particles under the SACHTOPERSE EP trade name. These innovative inorganic particles assure lasting chemical bonding with the surrounding organic binder matrix in both powder and liquid coating systems, permanently improving coating properties, including resistance to corrosion. SACHTOPERSE EP's securing "tentacles" are modified with epoxy groups for this special application.

Fighting fading
Surface functionalisation of fillers improves blanching resistance
A major problem sometimes observed with powder coatings is a colour change known as ‘blanching’, caused by water penetration. Its severity is affected by both the surface area and modification of the inorganic filler and pigment particles. Experimental functionalised grades of both blanc fixe and titanium dioxide reduced blanching, as predicted.

SACHTOPERSE EP improves blanching resistance
Exclusive presentation by Sachtleben experts at the Chinacoat, Shanghai.
A major problem observed with powder coatings (especially in contact with chemicals) is a colour change known as "blanching". This is produced by water penetration into the powder coating system. Surface functionalisation of inert and soft (less abrasive) synthetic barium sulfate particles allows covalent bonds to form between the particle surface and the surrounding matrix. This helps to prevent or reduce water penetration and thus protect powder coating systems against blanching and corrosion.

Boosting energy-efficiency
Sachtleben exploits high energy-savings potentials in compressed-air generation
The efficient use of energy is rational not only from the ecological viewpoint - the replacement of older energy-intensive machines and equipment can also bring enormous savings in both energy and costs. For this reason, the compressors used to supply compressed air throughout the company's Duisburg plant have been replaced with new, ultra-modern models. Thanks to the smart control system installed, the savings achieved amount to more than 30 percent of the original energy costs. Large volumes of compressed air are needed in the plant, to operate filter presses, for example.

Zero-byproduct titanium dioxide production
Technological milestone marks Sachtleben's titanium dioxide anniversary
In 2012, Sachtleben, Duisburg's white pigments specialist, will be able to look back on five decades of experience in the production of titanium dioxide - fifty years shaped by innovation in all facets of this white pigment, but also by occasionally heated controversy concerning the environmental aspects of the production of this mineral whitener which is in high demand globally. In the run up our 50th anniversary of titanium dioxide production, Sachtleben is now able to announce a very unique success story. The zero-byproduct production of titanium dioxide is not only theoretically possible, for the first time ever it is also a reality at the Duisburg plant.

Sachtleben additives cut downtimes in power and sulfuric acid plants
Additives containing Sachtleben titanium dioxide have for many years assured extra campaign length for the highly complex blast furnaces that make the iron needed for the production of steel. Now high-intensity tests performed in stationary fluidized-bed furnaces in Sachtleben's sulfuric acid plant, and in its power plant boilers, have also confirmed the "healing effect" of this Sachtleben specialty in energy generation.

Sachtleben announces price increases for barium hydroxide
Sachtleben Chemie, Duisburg Germany has today announced an increase in its prices for barium hydroxide mono- and octahydrate products. Barium hydroxide is used mainly for the production of PVC stabilizers. The price adjustment partially offsets continuing cost increases for raw materials and high demands in the global markets. Sachtleben is raising prices worldwide for all BaOH grades significantly with effect from July 1, 2011.

Perfect lasting protection: Functionalized barium sulfate for powder-coating systems.
Fading and thinning of surfaces frequently occurs in powder-coated commercial vessels and equipment which come into contact, for instance, with chemicals. In extreme cases, this fault in the coating surface can cause serious corrosion. Sachtleben, the synthetic barium sulfates specialist, now supplies for powder-coating producers a functionalized barium sulfate - SACHTOPERSE EP - which permanently eliminates precisely this "chink in the armor" of the coating system.

Sachtleben AEO certified
Customs clearance simplified
Accelerating globalization, rising safety and security standards, and also ever new regulations, have induced the World Customs Organization (WCO) to create a new worldwide framework to achieve more efficient passage through customs. An key element in this initiative is the introduction of "AEO" (Authorized Economic Operator) status.
