Laminates

Highly specialized demands are made on the decorative layer of laminates, and on the printable paper. The specification will, above all, emphasize: maximum light fastness, exceptional wet opacity and good printability. In addition, it must also be insensitive to low pH values, such as occur at cross-linking of the melamine resin.

SACHTLEBEN R 610 L has been specially developed for highly filled decorative papers. This type is therefore particularly recommendable for all coloured laminates and all exterior applications.

SACHTLEBEN R 320 is a micronized white pigment based on a slightly organically coated rutile. The user benefits from this product's good optical performance and low specific surface area.

HOMBITAN LW is a micronized white pigment based on an uncoated anatase. It is characterized by high opacity and whiteness, but it is significantly less abrasive than rutile.

BLANC FIXE micro is a new additive for the paper industry and is based on a high-purity synthetic barium sulfate. In wetted laminating papers, BLANC FIXE micro acts as an "invisible" spacer for titanium dioxide, with the result that this substance is present in virtually ideally dispersed form and is able to achieve its full optical performance. In black formulations, BLANC FIXE micro assures uniform coloration with no mottling. The paper can be resin-impregnated without the occurrence of disruptive air inclusions.

BLANC FIXE N is a synthetic barium sulfate prepared from high-purity solutions in a controlled growth process. For this reason, this product has a defined particle-size distribution and is free of disruptive impurities. BLANC FIXE N, an acid-resistant and alkali-resistant filler in the pulp, has no influence on retention and is extremely lightfast and weathering-resistant.
