Barytes from Bad Lauterberg

For more than one hundred years, Deutsche Baryt-Industrie Dr. Rudolf Alberti GmbH & Co. KG has been processing and refining rock containing barytes (heavy spar) at Bad Lauterberg, in the Harz region of Germany.

The bulk product recovered contains around 50 to 60% barytes. For this reason, the barytes must be separated from country rock and tramp minerals in a number of processing stages, in order to permit its industrial use.

For the production of ultra-fine, high-whiteness barytes products, the barytes concentrates leaving the grading facilities are further ground down to particle-sizes of smaller than 0.04 mm in a wet grinding process. The barytes is then converted to pure white barytes powder by means of removal of soluble and discoloring tramp material in a subsequent chemical treatment stage.

The comprehensive range of preparation processes involved guarantees end products of a consistent high quality. Every batch is tested and approved in the company's own laboratory before shipment. All products can be supplied in sacks, BigBags or in bulk tankers, depending on the customer's needs.

The product range is as follows: Albasoft, Albasoft 90, Albasoft 100, Albaryt and Albaryt plus, EWO, EWO-S, Fleur, Albawhite 40-100, and Ground Barytes F/N/G and 901. The corresponding product data sheets for all Deutsche Baryt-Industrie's barytes products can be obtained online.

Sachtleben Chemie GmbH, Duisburg is responsible for commercial marketing and sales of Bad Lauterberg barytes products.
