Hombitec RM in transparent coatings for outdoor use

Crystal-lattice doping makes it possible to significantly reduce the photoactivity of the titanium dioxide base. UV radiation is absorbed by the titanium dioxide and converted to thermal energy. Unlike organic substances, chemically inert titanium dioxide is not degraded and in this way enhances the long-term stability of the entire system.

Hombitec RM 400 is a special development for wood preservatives where outstanding UV protection is needed. Hombitec RM 400 is used in both thin-film and thick-film transparent coating systems, in order to significantly prolong the life of the wood.

The following illustration shows a thick-film coating system with different concentrations of Hombitec RM 400 after an exposure period of 2500 hours in the Q-panel using a 313 nm lamp and a defined moisture cycle. A dosage of approx. 1.5% Hombitec RM 400, preserved gloss and colour tone for virtually the entire exposure period.
