Zinc sulfide: Soft white and much more

Sachtolith, a highly white zinc sulfide pigment, is particularly suitable for incorporation in glass-fiber-reinforced plastics (GRPs). It is significantly softer than titanium dioxide and can therefore not damage the sensitive glass fibers embedded in the plastic. Glass-fiber-reinforced plastics are used, inter alia, for construction of high-tech sailing yachts, plastic car bodyshells and attractively styled sports equipment.

Properties:

Sachtolith is notable for its extremely low abrasive action. Equipment and machinery is thus exposed to much lower wear. Hardness, in addition to particle size and geometry, is the main factor affecting abrasion in machinery and tools. Sachtolith is an extremely soft pigment compared to titanium dioxide.

Mohs hardness scale; harder materials scratch softer.

The following three Sachtolith grades are available:

Sachtolith L
For optimum results in standard paint and coating systems;

Sachtolith HD
For special paints and coatings

Sachtolith HD-S
For all plastic and powder-coating systems where particularly high quality is needed.
